Welcome to Angelle’s at the Whiskey River Landing! On Loren Schwerd’s recommendation, we decided to take a little detour into the back roads of the Whiskey Bay Bayou.
Every Sunday night much of the local community and even some non-local stragglers get together at this bayou dance hall for great music and drink. Yes, you can dock your boat out front or just drive your wagon right over the levee and park out back.
Unfortunately we arrived a little late. After driving our giant vehicles over the levee, we could only find parking at a rustic restaurant on the next boat landing down. By the time we ate (in order to justify parking there) and asked if we could stay the night, the music was already done at Angelle’s, and I only got one whiskey drink.
But the bayou was beautiful, and the people were great. We took a nice, long midnight walk down the levee, and headed for Texas in the mornin.
